// WEEKEND VIBES #2

Location: Portobello Road Market. London, England.

It's funny, I look through some of these photos now and don't remember taking them. Maybe it's because they were taken so long ago. Christmas in New York is magical, but Christmas time in London is beautiful. I remember getting off the tube and walking to the markets while thinking, 'I hope I live in a city like this one day.' Like com'on look at how cute this market looks? Where else do you find a fresh flower market in the middle of winter. Anyways, just my weekend thoughts. x -C

// BINGO

// Christmas Day

At around 6:15 pm my family and I pile into our cars and head to one of our favourite parties of the year, Christmas Eve dinner at my grandparents house. There is nothing I like more than homemade red wine, tracking Santa Claus, playing bingo, telling stories and then heading home giggling from the amount of homemade wine we drank. This year I have to admit, I drank a little more than I needed to. No headache Christmas morning though. Good for me.

It felt so nice to take my camera out again. New York has stripped so much of my creativity away from constantly being on the go, my mind forgot what it was like to slow down. I slept the first two days home. I haven't been doing very much since. Laying around, ladies nights, getting in my car again and listening to music while sitting in traffic. Traffic, the one thing that I hated most pre New York, was so enjoyable. My sisters and I have been listening to a Serial Podcast on Adnan Syed's murder case. Adnan was a arrested in 1999 for the murder of his ex girlfriend. 15 years later, producer Sarah Koenig explores the case again. This time, it looks like she's been doing a better job than the police and investigators did at the time of the murder. She's starting to discover that some of the dots are not adding up.  Side note: In my next life, I'm coming back as a lawyer. Is Syed really guilty? I personally don't think he is. And neither does my sister [who is a criminal lawyer herself].

Anyway, here are a few photos from Christmas Eve bingo fun and Christmas day at our house. It's so nice to have little kids running around. Nothing makes Christmas more exciting than reliving the magic all over again from their eyes.

// CHICKENS

// Location: From the studio

Babas House, homemade wine, and a table set for 24 people = my Christmas Eve. I didn't put in the 'get as much work done as you can before 6 pm because you have a deadline' part. That just sounds depressing. Who wants to work on Christmas Eve. NO ONE. Anyways, happy holidays from the studio. My latest project got me drawing chickens. Currently working on the finished product, and it's starting to look really cute!

I can't believe it's already Christmas Eve! Oh, I got my hair chopped yesterday. Feels so lovely to have a fresh new look for a fresh new year! I wish you and your families a very happy Holiday. I hope you're surrounded by lots of love. x -C wait wait, there are new horoscopes up! You can find yours Here!

// TINA'S PJ'S

// Location: Home

My bedtime outfit usually consists of a baggy t shirt, socks, a sweater if it's cold, and really big sweatpants. My sister's, a put together outfit with matching slippers. In the morning I find her already up before me, coffee made, reading her book [or about some kind of vitamin we should be taking. Today was about Vitamin D] with her cute Burberry reading glasses on. I never look this cute in the mornings. Maybe i'll put this on my new year resolution list. x -C

// NEW READ

// Home for the holidays

I like to steal Dan's [my boyfriend] sweatshirts. Men's clothes are sometimes shaped better. I've been living in his blue Polo lately. It's the perfect Saturday morning coffee outfit. I finally had time to get to the bookstore before I flew home. I picked up DVF's new biography. So far it's amazing. Nothing I enjoy more than reading about a strong independent woman who believes that "Fear isn't an option". Highly recommended if you're looking for a new read. Happy weekend x -C

// COFFEE TABLE

// Location: Candice Kaye Studio

I'm a sucker for coffee table books. So much so that I've been sitting in my room for the past two hours looking through them all. I'm two coffees deep and starting to feel the caffeine. I'd love to make one these one day, each post from here can be one page in my book. Let's call it, "The journeys of a Canadian trying to make it as a textile designer in the big bad city". I guess it would only be a sell if it ends in a happily ever after.

I ended a chapter yesterday, leaving a fashion development company to pursue a life solely in textile and design. Felt nice to wake up this morning and return to my usual routine as a freelance designer. I had a deadline this morning for a very special project I can't exactly tell you about yet. Soon hopefully. Cross fingers. I'm excited for this new phase in my life. What will this new year bring me? New York likes to give me many unexpected surprises, not always the most pleasant. But it's taught me how to be pretty much ready for anything.

I'm on way future coffee table book. x -C

// HOLIDAY THOUGHTS

// Photos: Garance Dore

Holiday outfit inspiration. I want that jacket. And those pants. I can't believe it's already holiday party time. I fly home this weekend. Can't wait to get back on Canadian soil. My couch and TV are calling my name.
