// TORONTO SUNSET

//

I enjoy the entrepreneur life, it's fun, and fresh, always moving, not one day is the same, your growth is reliant on your work ethic. The only disadvantage - loneliness. Until I have the ability to build a team - it's just me, myself, and I dreaming up wallpaper prints. Lately CKD has been packing her bags and staying with friends, working from balconies and pretty sunsets. I like to believe that aside from the hard work entrepreneurship puts me through life is supposed to be lived. Yesterday Mich and I were in hysterics laughing over something - most likely something she said - and I remember thinking, this is life. These are the moments that I want to remember and keep reliving. I'm off to New York tomorrow for the installation of Sel Rrose. Maman just opened their newest market called Marche Maman. It's truly remarkable how those two have the energy to keep opening more locations. Below is CKD's first custom skateboard. Ilich wanted roses. So I made them fuschia pink and layered them on top of a checkered ground with hidden photos of beach towns I took while in Bali and Australia. Mmm and that's all. See ya in NY. x -C

// CKD FOR BRONCOS RESTAURANT

// Location: Toronto

CKD for Broncos! A client with taste. I love making collections, but there's nothing like working with people creating custom work that pushes my boundaries. We went with retro hand-painted umbrellas and white palm trees. Here's just a sneak peek of this 37' non-repeated mural. Excited to get this up.

I closed my eyes blew out my birthday candle, and made a wish that looked like something similar to a spreadsheet. I had just turned 28, and the only thing on my mind was my career. Where will I be in September, what will my life look like by January, where will I be living by my birthday next year. "Where will I be" became a benchmark for my advancement. How naive I was to think I had control of any of that. This lack of control threw me off balance. Trying to find my feet I was forced to live in the present and test new waters. While adjusting my footing I learned new perspective, I met lovely people, and slowly stepped onto higher ground without a spreadsheet in sight. Twenty nine. Growing up is a wonderful feeling. And for once, I'm just excited to enjoy it for everything that it is.

// ANTONY RUSH X CKD

//

I met Antony in New York pre Candice Kaye Design. He was a student, and I had dreams of becoming a textile designer. Fast forward two years, I was revamping CKD and wanted to make my prints move for the opening page of this website. Fast forward another year, and we have officially gone into collaboration. See Skulls above. These skulls are now available, full installation photos here. Welcome to the team Antony! x

Work, weddings, work, meetings, sleep. On repeat the past couple weeks. This summer is taking off on a busy note. New things are about to pop up around Toronto and New York in the next couple months! Exciting thingsssss. Happy Monday x -C

// NYC

//

The light that makes me fall in love with ny again, and again. I hopped over to Sel Rrose to see the samples against the wall for myself. I think these oversized pink florals are going to look great covering that back wall. The rest of my stay was spent with the Food Dudes enjoying eight course michelin star meals. Fine dining I've never experienced before.

The next couple weeks will be keeping me in the studio. There are a couple new restaurants teaming up with CKD that I'm excited to get started. Update later! Happy Monday x -C

// ILICH MEJIA

//

My career started in probably the most competitive city in the world. The culture - everyone for themselves. Over time I learned everyone for themselves type people operate at just surface level, and I wanted substance. I told myself that the truly talented are here to create at the most basic level and I made it my mission to find them. This day with Ilich, Franceline, and Charles proves my theory to be true. Just a bunch of creatives pushing limits together doing what they love. Thankful I got to be a part of it. Here are the finished shots from that day. The entire shoot was shot with film, Ilich had absolutely no idea how the photos would turn out. These came out pretty incredible, and I am by no means a model.
