// SUMMER RECAP
Summer recap:
Besides working like a crazy person the day FIT ended, when I look back to May, a lot of fun things have happened.
Curls:
Not sure when I decided to go natural with the hair on my head, but it's become my summer look. Diffuse and hairspray that's it! I've made my hair blonder, and let my roots grow out just a little. Maybe it's because of the surf vibes when the heat hits. I'm subconsciously evolving my look.
Whiskey:
I just recently learned that I'm allergic to red wine. I know. It's awful. But, in return I've turned to other alternatives. When Dan was studying to fall asleep some nights *cough* every night *cough* he would pour himself a glass of whiskey. I've caught on. Just because I want to be as cool as him. Whiskey and a big ice cube [with a touch of water].
Taught myself how to build a website:
It was time to grow up, iCandi and I knew it, so did Farrah and Calixte. It was an annoying and frustrating process, but really fun collecting everything I have learned in the last couple years into one website.
Layering:
Ring Layering has become my new most favourite thing. One Saturday morning while I was sitting at my favourite coffee shop working on this website, there was a lady sitting beside me with not only the chicest outfit on, but the coolest ring styles. Her wedding finger didn't have the typical diamond, there were layers of vintage diamond rings. Haha, looked pretty expensive. But I fell in love. I've never really been a diamond ring person - gold bans were always my thing. Not after I saw hers.
New York Weekends:
This whole new york culture of weekends away, I'm totally digging. My weekend to Montauk with the ladies was just such a good time. It's like Cottage every weekend but with really fun bars, and beaches and surf people everywhere.
Jersey shore...Jersey, Jersey, Jersey. When I first moved here I knew I wanted to Hamptons on the weekends and be all chic and stuff. That's when I met Dan. Then I went to the shore, then I fell in love.. with the shore.
Fams
The only thing missing from my summer. My family. Weekends home aren't enough. Life is just a little bit more fun with them here.
Ahh, summer I'm missing you already. I am pretty excited about fall outfits though. I'll be at the shore all weekend again. I shall talk to you on Monday!

// MARATHON
So according to my horoscope this morning, Cancers think we're 'having a life', but really we are running on a treadmill. I really dislike treadmills.
The more I thought about it, the more I realized I really do feel like I'm running on a treadmill, a New York treadmill. Sometimes this treadmill likes to give me a break and lower it's speed, but most of the time it likes to stay at 5.5 - a little faster than a light jog. How do I deal with this speed? My mornings. If I need to be at work for 9:30, I purposely wake up about 45 minutes earlier to sit in front of my computer, drink my coffee, and slowly wake up for the day. This morning was spent going over designs for new pieces! Farrah and Calixte need another sister I think.

Happy Wednesday. x -C
// LATELY
New York during summer time is better than I ever imagined. So much better that I have made myself completely exhausted. It's so hard to stay in and sleep when there are so many activities waiting for you outside. Above are photos of date nights in Bryant Park, finally getting to the driving range at Chelsea Piers, Saturday morning runs down the Hudson River, Soho House elevator selfies [because Dan and I were accidentally matching], and suntanning with Farrah in Washington Square Park. There are so many more things I would like to do before the weather gets cold. Typing the word 'cold' just made my heart break a little. Let's hope it all happens.
Ok, Happy Tuesday! x -C
// SHOES
I've never really been a shoe lady until Tina [my older sister] started to bring home nicer looking pairs than I had in my closet, "It's about the heel Candice". Duh. It's all Tina's fault I now pay close attention. Above are photos from the streets of New York Fashion Week Spring '14. Ahh September is coming, can't wait to get out there with my camera again.
// GOOD MORNING
August 20th. Two days after a year of living here and this morning I said 'wader', instead of 'water'. Amurica I love you but I will not conform to your ways. Now if you would excuse me, I'm going to make myself another Cawfee, and read my horoscope.
Leaving you with some of my Wednesday morning thoughts. x -C
// ONE YEAR LATER
I can remember my first day arriving in the City. August 18th, 2013 New York City summer heat, and I was wearing a jacket... by the time my mom and I got to my door, we were both sweating. Three flights up, two suitcases, and a huge smile on my face. Man, I can't believe it's already been a year. Actually I lied, I can believe that. It feels like it. Way too many incredible things have happened.
Dan and I were sharing a pitcher of beer the other night over a conversation that stuck with me. Before moving to New York, before FIT, Calixte, Farrah, Fashion Week... like, I'm going all the way back to the iCandiSelife, when the Selfie wasn't a 'Selfie' yet. Almost everyone I knew either laughed at me behind my back or to my face for them. I used to get laughed at a lot. I got laughed at when I started to bring my camera out with me to make videos, when I would talk about my huge dreams, when I talked about moving to New York City, the list can go on.
When I finally got to New York everyone here stopped laughing at me. It was such an odd feeling. I could tell someone here that I want to become the President of Amurica, and I'm almost positive the answer would be "well then go get it". You know how I would feel about that answer? Annoyed. Why aren't you laughing. I miss the laughing. When the laughing stopped, I started to dream bigger, work harder, and push myself to keep making things that hopefully someone would either roll their eyes at or laugh at.
It's f*cked up, and so true.
So, above all the annoying/needed/awesome/annoying lessons that life has taught me in just a year, the most important that I've learned: If you're not getting laughed at, you're doing something wrong.
Cheers to another year New York City. Can't wait to see where this new year will take me.

// SUNNY'S
My Friday night stated in Dumbo at a bar called Gran Electrica. I met up with an old friend from Toronto, Ian, who just moved here with his wife about two weeks ago? Ian and I met while I dancing for the Raptors Dance Pak. He was the guy who shot all the video for the jumbotron. Anyways, we have remained close ever since and boom, having cocktails in New York. Ian was sitting with a bunch of friends when I got there who all work in post production. One of the guys I met does all the video for GQ. We spoke briefly about his job and he said the coolest thing about it was getting used to seeing celebrities all the time. He also said meeting Kanye West was one of the coolest experiences he has ever had. Kanye is an actual genius he said. When they were shooting his cover this past June, Kanye wouldn't leave until everything was perfect. He said things that he would talk about would all have some sort of purpose and brilliance to it. I love New York nights like this. Meeting awesome people is one of my favourite activities.
Our night ended at the oldest bar in Brooklyn, Sunny's. The cutest place I have ever been to. While we were standing in the court yard, we were chatting with the owner. She and her husband run the bar, and it hasn't changed since it opened. She is an artist/ musician, so she books all the talent [she also has very good taste, the live band was amazing] We asked her what kept the place alive for so long, she said "because it's real".
It's Saturday and sunny. I'm going to finish this cawfee and head to a patio. Happy weekend. x -C
