// FAV SPOT IN NYC #8

// Location: Wythe Hotel. Brooklyn, New York

When I first moved here I would take day trips alone and explore New York. New York felt so different then. So new. Well obviously. Anyways, I remember this day so clearly. It was my first time in Brooklyn and nervous to take the train, afraid I would get lost. I did that a lot... Ok, I still do get lost, but not often anymore. I brought my book that I pretended to read while secretly taking photos while no one was looking. I really should be doing more of this - bringing my camera out. I've gotten so used to my iPhone, the photos really aren't the same. I had brunch at the Reynard [which is on the main floor of the hotel], and my roommate Sarah joined me for drinks upstairs overlooking that gorgeous view of Manhattan.

// PAPA POULE x CANDICE KAYE DESIGN

// Location: 189 Lafayette, Soho - Opening Monday Feb 9th]

Elisa and Ben [the creators of Maman NYC] have done it again. Those two, just taking over Soho I tell ya.

As Ben likes to say [in his French accent], Papa got jealous of Maman, and wanted his own resturant that served manly things - like chicken. Last night was the private reveal of Papa Poule. 20 guests, delicious food, and good company. I can honestly say I haven't enjoyed chicken like that in a long time. With recipes from the south of France, chef Armand really out did himself once again.

Here are a few outtakes from last night's event. Candice Kaye Design worked closely with Elisa on the wallpaper, and the plaid [which has yet to be printed]. Can't wait to show you the full look - it's just the cutest in there, chicken wire accents and all. Papa Poule will open this Monday the 9th. If you're in the mood for some deliciousness, you know where to go. Congrats Elisa, Ben and Armand! x -C

// STUDIO WORK

// New from the studio

Locking myself in my studio [aka bedroom] for the next couple weeks. Candice Kaye Design's first collection is coming! Here a rough sneak peek. You should expect painted flowers, water colour techniques, gold leaf techniques, geometrics and some more flowers. Ahh can't wait to get my hands dirty.

// IT'S TIME

It's almost time! All the fashionable people hit the streets of New York City for fashion week. I won't be in the pit this time, but I will most definitely be spending my Saturday/Sunday morning running around New York with my camera. Let's hope it's not as cold as last year.

How was everyone's weekend/super bowl Sunday? I'm feeling a little sluggish today, about ready to go back to sleep for a couple more hours [sips on her coffee].

// WEEKEND VIBES

// Location: Diner, Brooklyn, New York

I put my computer away for the weekend. No work allowed. So, we brunched at the Diner in Brooklyn. Obsessed with the decor. Love the purposely-broken-tiled floor look.

// WEEKEND VIBES

// Location: Parm, Nolita

Pretty awesome wallpaper on the walls of a pretty awesome restaurant. Dan and I went to Parm last night for some tasty Italian food. Up there for one of my fav NYC spots. Happy weekend. x -C

// BACK TO MY ROOTS

//  Location: Neverland

Candice Kaye Design's first collection. It's finally time. I have been collecting inspiration/ideas/sketches since before I moved to New York City. The collection will date back to my childhood - fairytales, fairy dust, Captain Hook and Neverland. Sneak peeks will be posted along the way! x -C

// SUM SUNSHINE

// Location: Ward Island, Toronto, Canada

Sandra, Danielle, Britt and I have remained the best of friends since high school. Two of my best friends are getting married this year, TWO. We have watched each other grow up, move to different cities, date the wrong people - then fall in love with the right people. I'm smiling thinking about all the wine Skype dates between Britt and I when she left us for three years to study law in Cardiff, Wales. Sandra [one of the brides] asked me for a high res photo from one of our afternoons at Ward Island in Toronto. I found a whole album from that day and had to share some of the photos. This journal needed a little brightness from all the snow and cold weather.
