// SLEEP NO MORE

// Location: McKittrick Hotel

I got off at the wrong station Friday night after work to meet Dan at the off broadway show - Sleep No More. We had dinner plans at 6 pm sharp and it was 6:02 pm before I realized I was lost. With a combination of jogging and sprint walking, I made it from 37th and 8th to 27th and 10th out of breath and sweating. I am so out of shape. 10 blocks and two avenues really shouldn't have been that difficult. Dan and I finally sat down at the Heath, the restaurant attached to the Hotel. Two cocktails, a full tummy and we were ready for show.

I have been dying to see this. Sleep No More is an interactive play with incredible dancers, no speaking, and a 'stage' of 6 floors. It took us a while to understand that we had to actually follow the characters in order to understand the plot. The best part is I could go back about three or four more times and see a completely different story each time. Definitely a must see. Happy Monday x -C

// WEEKEND VIBES

// Location: Maman Cafe

I'm on route to Maman this morning for a quick interview/shoot with Preserve.us [Blake Lively's blog]!! Elisa and I are so excited. One check off my [our] bucket list.

P.s. I'm wearing a Staci Snider skirt in that photo. It's one of my most favourite pieces of clothing. She's incredible both as a person [like I mean she's a super cool/full of energy/down to earth type person] and as a designer. Alright, go time. Tell you all about it Monday! Enjoy the weekend. x -C

// GREEN

// Location: Studio

I decided it was time to face my fears and add a ground color to my designs. During my studio/school days adding a ground color was the scariest thing ever. We used paint. You know what happens with paint, it doesn't erase. So imagine 20 + plus hours spent on painting all those flowers all those vines by hand, and then knowing that the ground color could potentially kill the entire design. Only once did I have to start all over again. I didn't mix enough paint and I couldn't match the color for the life of me. My prof mentioned that once, that it was impossible to match a color perfectly so always mix more than enough paint. It was the worst 20 + hours of my life. I saw the sunset and sunrise and switched from wine to coffee. I do not miss those days. My body physically rejects long nights now. By 10 pm, my body shuts down. Anyways, what you think?

// IT'S BACK

// BCBG circa 2005

It's back! This sequence BCBG bag that I bought on sale like 10 years ago [ok, maybe it wasn't 10, that sounds a little aggressive, let's say 6]... This sequence BCBG bag that I bought on sale 6 years ago, is back and has been hitting the streets of New York. I forgot how fun it was to carry around a little sparkle.

// TUESDAY 3:37 PM THOUGHTS

// Location: My desk

I just refilled my coffee mainly to keep my hands warm. It's cold at my desk. These winter days of 0 degrees F in New York don't mix well with the old buildings surrounding the city. Hints of freezing-ness soar through the cracks of the windows [you should step into my little apartment in Greenwich village. Freezing]. For those of you who don't know, I work full time as a graphic designer at Holland & Sherry. It's a beautiful company filled with young and hip designers who have good taste and know their fabric. We sell everything from high end rugs, to wallpaper, to upholstery, to embroidery - which is actually designed by the fabulous Nicolas Chambeyron, who was the designer for Christian Dior. His work is amazing. I spent a good 30 minutes just standing  in front of his work in the Holland & Sherry showroom at the D&D Building.

This 'full-time job' [two words I never thought I would say], keeps me busy all day - and then all this other stuff, my stuff - Candice Kaye Design/freelance/meetings/collaborations happen when I get home + on weekends...

// TILE

// Candice Kaye Design

This long weekend was wonderful. So wonderful my body feels like it should still be sleeping. Or maybe it's yelling at me for coffee. That's most likely it. Anyways, I've been working on the tile design for the new collection. Here's a sneak peek into what it looks like so far. I feel like it needs a ground colour no?

Alright, get ready time. x -C

// VALENTINES DAY

// Location: Photo Booth

So, what did everyone do with their Valentines Day this weekend? I've never been a Valentines Day gal. Elisa [owner of Maman Cafe] and I had an interview scheduled for 9 am Saturday morning, but it got cancelled due to New York Fashion Week's crazy schedule. At least it forced us to a coffee date. She's been crazy with the opening of Papa Poule, running Maman, and event after event. It turned out to be the perfect morning. When you put the two of us together we don't stop talking - a symphony of "AH YES, I love that idea - OK let's do it". I showed her sketches of the new collection [which will be launching this spring!]. So many exciting things to come.. which also means a lot more work for me. Ha..

The rest of my Valentines Day was spent with my other best friend. I brought him delicious chicken from Papa Poule [my valentines day gift], and he treated me to $4.00 beers at a bar down the street from his house [along with tickets to "Sleep No More" - an off broadway show I've been dying to see]. Our more than one $4.00 beers lasted for hours talking about life, goals, and me forcing him to make up a bucket list [he doesn't believe in them]. I didn't get far. Didn't care much though, the $4.00 beers bar had a photo booth : )

I hope you guys had a good weekend! Couldn't be more excited that tomorrow is a holiday. A day spent working on the new collection. Oh wait, I realized I never told you the name. Ready for it? "N 11". I'll explain the name and story behind the collection soon! x -C
