// $5 FROM ALDO

// Location: Montauk

This time last year I had just gone on my first date with Dan, I just graduated from FIT, I was starting my summer internship, the only money I had was the cash in my wallet, and I had bags packed for a weekend in Montauk with the ladies for Memorial Day weekend. I took this photo on the beach. Isn't it funny how certain photos bring you back to a whole bunch of memories. I really do miss those $5 glasses from Aldo though. I sat on them on a train coming back from somewhere last summer. Sad moment.

Ah, man how life has changed since then. I never would have thought I would be working full-time, juggling a collection, working with amazing clients, and packing my bags for a weekend on the Jersey Shore with now boyfriend Dan. Pretty awesome stuff. I'll be leaving my online life at home for the weekend. I got my sketch book packed and a whole lot of fun to look forward to. Update you on Tuesday! Enjoy the weekend. If you need me for any inquires on wallpaper or personal custom orders, feel free to email me any time kayecandice@gmail.com and I'll be sure to get back to you when I can! x-C

// APPLE WALLS AND SELFIES

// Location: Bouley, New York NY

It's been a while since I've pulled out the camera for a selfie. Bouley made me do it. Dan's parents booked a reservation here for a celebratory dinner [Dan's officially a Dr! I'm a very proud girlfriend]. The decor was just as delicious as the food. The most elegantly decorated restaurant I've been to yet in New York. An apple wall?? I mean.. Although I wonder what happens to those apples once they start to get old. Maybe they are fake?

Life goals people. This mural below also reminded me to get back to the drawing board and start practicing again. I have a lot of work to do.

// BLUE BABY

// Studio

Good morning :) Happy Thursday. One day until it's TGIF and for the American's a nice long weekend. I'm looking forward to the day off. Nothing but paints, sweat pants and coffee refills switched to budlight limes say by 4 pm. Here's something new I just finished for a client's wedding invitation. Not sure how this print is going to be used, but I'm very excited to see the finished product!

Oh, if you didn't notice, new horoscopes are up, click here to read yours x -C

// MORNING VIEW

// COFFEE TALK

I picked up the "4 Hour Work Week" by Tim Ferriss about a week ago. It's my newest subway read/new obsession. I read this book about a year ago - but just now am I am finding it relatable to my life. I woke up to this view this weekend, and in this photo I'm sipping on a coffee while thinking about whether or not the clouds will go away making room for a day filled of clear skies and sunshine. This right here is luxury. The older I'm getting the more conscious I have become towards my choices and decisions. I want the four hour work week, not the 60-80 hours that I'm working now. Part of Tim's direction forces you to reach out to people you have only dreamed about working with or meeting. I am pleased to say one of the 10 people that I've emailed got back to me today. Pretty incredible feeling. I'm excited about what's to come. Will I stay in New York? Will I decide to travel the world which can only make my work well rounded, or will I be doing something that is completely insane like flying to Paris to help decorate Chanel's 2017 Runway show with Karl [that sounds fantastic]. The stories I've read from this book have really changed my point of view, and it's this point of view that I'm wanting to explore more. Anyways - just some afternoon coffee talk x -C

// MIAMI

// Location: Salt Water, Palm Trees, Ocean, Sun, Tanned Skin, Heaven, Cocktails by the pool...

Good morning, happy Monday - for my Canadians, Happy Victoria Day! I'm back in New York from a wonderful weekend in Miami with my ladies. Aleks is getting married [that beautiful woman in the photo below - who has a body like that and just had a baby]. What a difference a weekend away from the city makes. All my crazy thoughts that race through my head a million miles per minute were left on New York soil. I thought about nothing in Miami other than what time we were heading down to the pool/beach, and ya, that's pretty much it.

To kick off her big bachelorette night, we started at Katsuya for dinner. The big lips you see below was the mural design beside our table. Miami decor is so not my style, but I actually really liked it. Inspired some thoughts for my new collection [which will launch hopefully this summer]. The rest of the night is our little secret. Take me back to the ocean.

// LAUNCH PARTY

// Location: Maman NYC, Photographer: Bridget Badore

I was curled up in my bed with a fresh cup of coffee in my hand. It was 6:30 am [my usual journal posting hours] when I had a thought, it's time to start your first collection. I love doing custom stuff, but how is anyone going to know who Candice Kaye Design is without her own prints? So that's how it all started. Everything just sort of flowed after that, the story behind the collection I was living, my wallpaper supplier [Twenty2 Wallpaper] Elisa already used for Papa Poule so I already knew the quality would be fantastic. A couple months later - four prints were born, wallpaper was printed and hung on canvases and I was drinking champagne at my launch party.

I can't thank everyone enough for coming. Here's to the beginning of my wildest dreams.

// FIGHT CLUB

// Forced photo up against a blue wall

Life really isn't complete without these two, so I force them to take photos with me while they are here in New York. This is our Fight Club edition.

// CANDICE KAYE DESIGN BACKDROP

// Rachel B's Crib

After the collaboration I did with Roots Canada, this whole photo shoot x Candice Kaye Design backdrop has started something super rad. About a week ago now, Rachel - the talent for MLS/ actress/ clearly a model, makeup artist Holly Jones, and I got together for a fun Saturday evening jam session. It was filled with champagne, snacks, and just a really good time. I missed my camera.

Happy Monday guys, how was your weekend? My fam was in town. Tina threw a surprise flight + dinner along with 5 of his friends [who were also part of the surprise] for his 30th birthday here in New York. So nice having them here. Feeling a little more like myself again. If you missed all the action on Friday - I made Collection N Eleven live! You can view all the prints here. Also I do offer custom services for this collection as well! If you're wanting a different color - size of flower - or something completely custom to your space email me at kayecandice@gmail.com and I would love to get creative with you! Wallpaper can be scary since it's sort of permanent and then annoying to take down - if you're going to invest in something, might as well make it custom!
