Good morning, and happy Friday :) I love the feeling of short weeks. Friday comes so soon which means my lazy Saturday morning is fast approaching. Tomorrow will be filled with sketching up a custom powder room mural, but this can all be done in Dan's ball shorts, oversized T shirt and refills of coffee. Attached is a little sneak peek into the new summer collection's inspiration which will be launching in about two months. Think old polaroids, beach mornings, summer nights, no makeup, and blonder hair - my New York summers. Happy weekend guys! x -C
// Collection N Eleven
Hi Hi, happy Thursday. I've been sending off samples of Collection N Eleven to a few magazines lately for their upcoming fall shoots! Very excited that publications are into the collection. My newest project takes place in the East Village. A newly renovated powder room. The idea is a non repeatable mural that will run about 7FT long. Sort of like the Rendezvous Mural design, except a lot more detail. I've been working hard on getting the sketches perfect. I'll give you a sneak peak once I start painting. Can't wait for my Saturdays to be filled with nothing but design again. I feel like it's been non-stop travel for me, which are making my days longer, which can explain why I'm feeling under the weather. Feels like a case of the strep throat. I swear I got strep once a couple years ago, and it keeps on coming back. Anyway! If you haven't seen the collection yet, click here. If you're interested in getting some wallpaper up, email me at any time, kayecandice@gmail.com x -C
// Location: Jersey Shore
I have a major crush on the Jersey Shore. It's become my New York living vacation destination. There is nothing better than waking up to a coffee and a pork roll egg and cheese, then getting into a boat to a magical place called F Cove where you suntan all day long with some of the nicest/most fun people. Missing the au naturel look already. I hope you enjoyed your Memorial Day weekend! x -C
Ps. new horoscopes are up! Read yours here. x -C
// CANDICE KAYE DESIGN + LILLET + MAMAN + PRESERVE.US
Hi! Welcome back to real life people. How was everyone's weekend? I'm on coffee number two already. Going to be a long day.
Anyway, Maman and Preserve teamed up with Lillet last week for a lovely event filled with food, cocktails, a new floral clothing line by Preserve and Candice Kaye Design menus! Looks as beautiful as it was :)
// Location: Montauk
This time last year I had just gone on my first date with Dan, I just graduated from FIT, I was starting my summer internship, the only money I had was the cash in my wallet, and I had bags packed for a weekend in Montauk with the ladies for Memorial Day weekend. I took this photo on the beach. Isn't it funny how certain photos bring you back to a whole bunch of memories. I really do miss those $5 glasses from Aldo though. I sat on them on a train coming back from somewhere last summer. Sad moment.
Ah, man how life has changed since then. I never would have thought I would be working full-time, juggling a collection, working with amazing clients, and packing my bags for a weekend on the Jersey Shore with now boyfriend Dan. Pretty awesome stuff. I'll be leaving my online life at home for the weekend. I got my sketch book packed and a whole lot of fun to look forward to. Update you on Tuesday! Enjoy the weekend. If you need me for any inquires on wallpaper or personal custom orders, feel free to email me any time kayecandice@gmail.com and I'll be sure to get back to you when I can! x-C
// Location: Bouley, New York NY
It's been a while since I've pulled out the camera for a selfie. Bouley made me do it. Dan's parents booked a reservation here for a celebratory dinner [Dan's officially a Dr! I'm a very proud girlfriend]. The decor was just as delicious as the food. The most elegantly decorated restaurant I've been to yet in New York. An apple wall?? I mean.. Although I wonder what happens to those apples once they start to get old. Maybe they are fake?
Life goals people. This mural below also reminded me to get back to the drawing board and start practicing again. I have a lot of work to do.
// Studio
Good morning :) Happy Thursday. One day until it's TGIF and for the American's a nice long weekend. I'm looking forward to the day off. Nothing but paints, sweat pants and coffee refills switched to budlight limes say by 4 pm. Here's something new I just finished for a client's wedding invitation. Not sure how this print is going to be used, but I'm very excited to see the finished product!
Oh, if you didn't notice, new horoscopes are up, click here to read yours x -C
// COFFEE TALK
I picked up the "4 Hour Work Week" by Tim Ferriss about a week ago. It's my newest subway read/new obsession. I read this book about a year ago - but just now am I am finding it relatable to my life. I woke up to this view this weekend, and in this photo I'm sipping on a coffee while thinking about whether or not the clouds will go away making room for a day filled of clear skies and sunshine. This right here is luxury. The older I'm getting the more conscious I have become towards my choices and decisions. I want the four hour work week, not the 60-80 hours that I'm working now. Part of Tim's direction forces you to reach out to people you have only dreamed about working with or meeting. I am pleased to say one of the 10 people that I've emailed got back to me today. Pretty incredible feeling. I'm excited about what's to come. Will I stay in New York? Will I decide to travel the world which can only make my work well rounded, or will I be doing something that is completely insane like flying to Paris to help decorate Chanel's 2017 Runway show with Karl [that sounds fantastic]. The stories I've read from this book have really changed my point of view, and it's this point of view that I'm wanting to explore more. Anyways - just some afternoon coffee talk x -C
