// YE- SEASON 3

// Location: Madison Square Garden

Have you seen the Jim Carrey commencement speech yet? I say yet because it's a speech worth listening to. I learned a lot yesterday while standing backstage - or 'back of the house' as they call it at Yeezy Season 3. I had a moment of clarity, a lightening strike that hit my brain and made everything clear for like one second. I got one of those before - the next day I quit my second job and decided to move to New York. Living here for as long as I have trying to 'break' into the industry while working full-time hours all at the same time has taught me a lot about people and from observing, the kind of person I want to become. Part of success is who you become when you start gaining success, or rather what you allow success to become of you. Yesterday Rachel's friend Mark, who is the director of the entire show treated us with such... kindness? I've been given a lot of incredible opportunities, but in turn almost always am treated and reminded like I've been given a favor. Mark didn't make us feel like that yesterday. He took the time to make sure we got all access passes, gave us a tour, and told us to come in and out of his work space at anytime. Let's keep in mind he had a show to direct on like 50 different Television stations. By this time I hope you have listened to Jim Carrey's speech because I'm about to reference it. I've learned there are different kinds of people in this world, Jim Carrey outlines about four:

This painting is big for a reason. This painting is called “High Visibility.” (laughter) It’s about picking up the light and daring to be seen. Here’s the tricky part. Everyone is attracted to the light. The party host up in the corner (refers to painting) who thinks unconsciousness is bliss and is always offering a drink from the bottles that empty you; Misery, below her, who despises the light — can’t stand when you’re doing well — and wishes you nothing but the worst; The Queen of Diamonds who needs a King to build her house of cards; And the Hollow One, who clings to your leg and begs, “Please don’t leave me behind for I have abandoned myself.”

Everyone is attracted the light. Naturally. I've fallen into many different traps on this journey to my big dream. The traps always start obvious at the beginning. But as I move closer and closer to the light the traps became harder to recognize. Yesterday taught me what Jim Carrey meant when he said "Life doesn't happen to you, it happens for you". Life will provide you with the opportunity to invent your own style on how you will navigate through it. So far for me it's: remember who burned you - learn from them thank them, and then grow up to be like Mark the director.

In other news Yeezy was dope. His new Album in unrreeeealllll and I'm not a huge fan of Yeezy's music. For the fashion, if I think I understand it he's bringing the streets to high fashion and it makes me want to invest in one of his bomber jackets so I can wear it with my black silk dress tonight.

// KANYE

// Wifey

Confession: I find interviews done with creative geniuses and listen to them while I work. Listening to Bey at the moment tho. But she is always an exception. Kanye is always in that mix. I don't care what anyone says about him, that man is a genius. I was out with one of the directors on set with Kanye for his GQ shoot two years ago, and he said they were shooting until around 12 am because Kanye had to get it right. He said it was really incredible to watch a genius at work. So you can imagine my excitement for his show tomorrow. First artist to show his collection at MSG ever. Genius. I took this photo off of his twitter - looks like Kim is going to be an appearance. I'll be taking photos and snapping away. Follow along ckayedesign! x -C

// FASHION WEEK

// Snapchat: ckayedesign

There are nights out in New York, then there are nights out in New York. It's been a while since I've had one of those. My nights lately have been go-to-bed-early because anything less than an eight hour sleep makes me tired the next day. Last night Rachel invited me out for drinks with a director she worked with in LA. He is here directing Kanye's fashion show this week. Ya you read that correctly. And Kanye is just a few that he has worked with, add Madonna and Beyonce to the list. We sat and drank and talked about life, and experiences, mostly his lol. Aside from the fact that it felt really good to be surrounded by such talent, I learned quite a lot. For instance, how to play pool properly. I'm a terrible pool player and I sunk some pretty sweet balls [That's what she said, beat you to it Dan]. Mark and his buddy had some pretty cool stories to tell last night. I could picture Rach and I say 10 years from now talking about our New York City days. How we got pushed down beat up and run over just to get up and take a beating all over again.

There was one thing Mark said last night that really stuck. Rach and I have been invited to the Kanye show this week #NoBigDeal, we were so excited to bring our cameras and make videos or whatever, when Mark said to remember to do things and see things just for you. He said maybe you won't get that photo, or that video, but you'll have that mental shot which will be filled with so much more experience and meaning because it will be completely and entirely yours. It brought me back to my Music Festival days when we would turn off our phones and leave them in our tents for the entire weekend. Or my first day in the Photographers pit for my first ever fashion week experience. I put down the camera a couple times to just watch the fashion and take in that incredible sound of cameras clicking all around me. Maybe that's why I love new york nights like these, Rach and I didn't have our phones at all the entire night. We didn't need them. We were in good company.

// I GOT HOT SAUCE IN MY BAG, SWAG

// B

And this is our new anthem. Oh and let's not forget the part when she says "Always stay gracious, best revenge is your paper"

I see it, I want it
I stunt, yeah, little hornet
I dream it, I work hard
I grind 'til I own it
I twirl all my haters
Albino alligators
El Camino with the ceiling low
Sippin' Cuervo with no chaser
Sometimes I go off, I go off
I go hard, I go hard
Get what's mine, take what's mine
I'm a star, I'm a star
Cause I slay, slay
I slay, hey, I slay, OK
I slay, OK, all day, OK
I slay, OK, I slay, OK
We gon' slay, slay
Gon' slay, OK
We slay, OK
I slay, OK
I slay, OK
OK, OK, I slay,OK
OK, OK, OK, OK

// PUPPY MONKEY BABY

// Super Bowl weekend

This weekend feels like it was jammed packed, I swear it was Friday just a couple hours ago. My meetings took place here this weekend. How goood is that wall? That almond croissant below was equally as good. Did everyone enjoy the super bowl yesterday? By super bowl I mean Beyonce's performance. I love how she continues to rise. Makes you just want to work harder. Happy Monday guys x -C

// HOW TO: GET READY FOR SUPER BOWL SUNDAY [CANADIAN STYLE]

// By: Rachel Bonnetta

So after yesterday's meeting I took a trusty uber to Rachel's house. She wanted to shoot a How To vid and asked me to be part of it. Naturally I mean I'm so good in the kitchen. That was written with sarcasm. Rach and I are going to BK tomorrow to celebrate with Dan's buddies so we thought we would get ourselves prepared and show Americans how Canadians get ready for the Super Bowl. Hit play! Happy Super Bowl weekendddddd

// THROW BACK TO THE FIRST LAUNCH

// Location: Maman, Soho

May 5th 2015, my hair was shorter, my arms were a little thinner and it was the launch of my first collection. May 5th was also the day it all started. It's hard to believe it hasn't even been a year since designing my own work. It feels like it's been years. Pretty cool how much can change in 10 months. To another 10 months of hard work. Let's hope I can take myself to another country by that time. London or Paris would be fabulous. x -C

// HOROSCOPE WEDNESDAY

// Location: El Ray

El Ray, one of my favourite cafes down at the Lower East Side. It's a rainy day in NYC. Too bad I can't sit here all day long. I just read my horoscope and it couldn't be more right. It creeps me out at how good those horoscopes are. Like how is it possible for one person to predict everyone's horoscope? Alright, time to get moving. x -C
