// TRIFECTA

// Racetrack

Place me at a roulette table and I'll walk away a richer woman [I'm lucky with numbers], bring me to a racetrack and the opposite was proven to be true. Maybe it was just not my lucky day. It was my first time at the racetrack and I loved it. Everything was so pretty and clean. It reminded me of the clip in Gabrielle Chanel's documentary, minus the location, South of France, and the beautiful outfits and big hats. Perhaps one day. Dan tried to teach me how to bet, I won $6.00. I did enjoy how long your money can last. Play $2.00-$12.00 bets while sipping on $6.00 cocktails and you have a day well spent. Dan and I were in Jersey this weekend. It was nice to get out of the city and smell fresh air. Happy Monday! x -C

// WEEKEND VIBES

// updates

Those runners no longer look so brand new anymore. Damn, I'm in need of some new ones. However, I'm on the search for a new New York apartment [bye bye Greenwich Village] so home goods are on my priority list.

It's Friday and thank god [takes a sip of her coffee]. I felt like a bus hit me when I opened my eyes Monday morning, and I still haven't really been able to shake that feeling since. A lot has happened since Monday morning. Sunday at around 1:40 pm, I got approved for my VISA. After six months of a constant feeling of uneasiness, I finally feel settled. New York has me for a little while longer, and I'm coming after it with all that I got.  Oddly enough, as New York seems to have me a little longer, Toronto will be seeing more of me in months to come as well. Yup Toronto, I'm coming after you too. There is no place like home right?

I've been working on this print for a while. Adding flowers, backgrounds, changing the color etc. I sort of like it just like this. Simple and fresh. What do you think? ckd summer collection all coming together! 07.22.15 [launch date]

// MARBLE

// From the studio

What to expect from the summer collection? Marble [freshly painted print above], texture, bright colours, with of course some Candice Kaye Design flowers. I have a couple secret prints up my sleeve that I won't show you until the launch. I really wanted to have fun with this collection. It's going to be small like Collection N Eleven but much more playful. Happy Thursday! x -C

// WTF MAGAZINE

// Candice Kaye Design X WTF

Ahhh!! I woke up this morning to this! I remember the afternoon when I was contacted by Rosa so clearly, the lovely lady who interviewed me and wrote this piece, I was so excited to be considered for a feature I called both Dan and my mom and talked so fast neither of them could understand what I was saying. We met at the Magnolia bakery on 59th street, and chatted about life over cupcakes and coffee. I immediately fell in love with her English accent and her ability to ask the perfect questions that really spoke about who I was, who I wanted to be. This was written prior to the launch of Collection N Eleven - or even it was started rather. It's cool to read back and see how I imagined Collection N Eleven to be versus what it looks like now.  Thank you WTF Magazine for the beautiful feature. Honored.

I'm flying home tomorrow to witness one of my best friend's [Aleks] get married, and it got me all like [please direct your attention to the photo above].

We are getting older. Old enough to have husbands. The ladies and I have been friends now for about 10 + years. Each of us completely different with completely different lives doing completely different things. In the past couple years it's been a rare occasion for us all to be in the same country. But we have all managed to remain the closest of friends, watching each other grow from ladies to women, and now to wives and mothers. I can't wait to get home. A girls sleepover night at the Four Seasons awaits me before the big day tomorrow. Finally all in the same country again, toasting yet another new beginning. Photos for Monday! Happy weekend ya'll. x -C

// MAMAN TORONTO

// From the studio

New York's favourite cafe is making it's way to Toronto! Said to open in the next month or so. Elisa and I have been working on a new custom print to add to the Candice Kaye Design cup collection. So excited to see how it all comes together. I also can't wait to enjoy a cocktail on their patio [yes there's a bar]. x -C

I no longer have patience for certain things, not because I've become arrogant but simply because I reached a point in my life where I do not want to waste more time with what displeases me or hurts me. I have no patience for cynicism, excessive criticism and demands of my nature. I lost the will to please those who do not like me, to love those who do not love me and to smile at those who do not want to smile at me. I no longer spend a single minute on those who lie or want to manipulate. I decided not to coexist anymore with pretense, hypocrisy, dishonestly and cheap praise. I do not tolerate selective erudition nor academic arrogance. I do not adjust either to popular gossiping. I hate conflict and comparisons. I believe in a world of opposites and that's why I avoid people with rigid and inflexible personalities. In friendship I dislike the lack of loyalty and betrayal. I do not get along with those who do not know how to give a compliment or a word of encouragement. Exaggerations bore me and I have difficulty accepting those who do not like animals. And on top of everything I have no patience for anyone who does not deserve my patience.

Wednesday morning thoughts. [ps, new horoscopes are up] x -C
