// CURVE BALLS AND VIEWS

// Location: New York, New York

These are my views this morning. New York looks quite lovely from up here. The sun was just rising in the city when I opened my eyes this morning in that comfy king size-hotel pillows-hotel bed. Brought me back to the days when I would travel to New York for a weekend. I forgot how luxurious this city can be. Life has thrown Dan and I a little curve ball - more like a life inconvenience. With a new design to launch, a couple freelance gigs to get done, meetings, and a full wallpaper install to arrange for next week + a full time job - all has been put on hold just for a day or two. Free Starbucks coffee and the Wall Street Journal at my front door this morning is slowly making up for it. It's funny how life works. Just when I thought I was checking things off my list and getting ready for a calendar free weekend to do Christmas market things, "nope- no chance" [that's life talking]. According to Pinterest: "It's not what happens to you, it's how you deal with what happens that determines your outcome" [or something cheesy like that] Anyways, this is where you will find me for the next day or so, my silver lining. A comfy hotel bed on the 29th floor in New York City with a windows that span around the entire bedroom to this view.  x -C

// NEW DESIGN IS IN

// From the studio

The new design from Collection N Twelve print that has been transformed into gift wrap for the holidays is here!! Floral Tile it's called [my mom's personal favourite]. It came out beautiful on the gift wrap paper. I bought some red velvet ribbon in the middle of Christmas decoration shopping yesterday and really loved the way it looked against the gift wrap. Excited to shoot the new design and get it up on the shop!

In other news, new horoscopes are up, you can read yours here. x -C

// STYLE TALK

// London, England by: Tommy Ton

It's been a while since I've flipped through street style photos. After shooting Fashion Week here in New York while I wrote for Preferred Magazine, I was sort of turned off by it all. 1. Almost all of the photos are staged. Yes, I've seen models gracefully run across the street several times just to get the right photo, and 2. Well, I guess I felt it was time to put the camera down and actually attend the shows. There is something pretty incredible about sitting in the photographers pit though. Ugh who am I kidding I'd rather be working dressed in a shitty outfit than sitting front row in heels anyways. It's a sickness. Unless it's Chanel or Alice Temperley, I'll put on heels and sit front row any day. Back to style - I was flipping through the famous Tommy Ton's photos on Vogue this morning with my coffee, and started to fall in love all over again. Street style still isn't like it used to be- when Scott Schuman was the only one running around the streets - but these photos are close to them. Erin Wasson is such a Boss. x-C

// FAMILY

Location: Love The Design

I was in the middle of sending these photos out for Press requests when I came across this one and couldn't help but smile. It was so incredible to have my family and friends there for the ckd launch we did in Toronto last weekend. Wait no, the weekend before last. It's fun grinding away here in New York and feeling the rewards every now and then. Dan never fails surprising me with a bottle of champ and some gummies [that's how we celebrate], but there's nothing like celebrating with family and friends. xx love you guys.

// HELLO NYC

// Location: Jersey Shore

There are many things I enjoy about American Thanksgiving. One of them is all the time off. I feel like I've been out of the city for way longer than four days. I spent those four days away from my computer and curled up on the couch watching Christmas movies in between taking naps. It was glorious. Dan and I watched Home Alone 1 & 2, & Serendipity goin' back to back [yes, I'm listening to Drake]. Besides Christmas movies and napping Dan and I decided to do something different and drive to a winery. If you follow me on Snapchat [ckayedesign], you would have had the pleasure of watching Dan take it over. Selfies I have no problem taking, talking into the phone is a whole other story. I get really awkward. Anyway we got back into the city yesterday to Christmas decorations going up. It's Christmas in New York! I love how Thanksgiving sort of kicks off the start of Christmas. Literally the Friday after thanksgiving, Dan's dad was outside all day getting the lights up. Alright, time to get back to work. Four days of no computer is a pretty risky move. x -C

// ROAD BOUND

// Thanksgiving

I love American thanksgiving. Wednesday half-day, Thursday, Friday off = I'm in :) Thanksgiving is almost as big as Christmas here. I'm not over exaggerating. I was getting my nails done this afternoon and every cooking show was about "the perfect thanksgiving dinner". Imagine the smell of turkey right when you wake up, the sound of the Santa Clause parade followed by football all day, and drinks that start around.. whenever we please. Everyone comes home for thanksgiving which means all the bars are packed. SO excited for some River Rock this weekend [my favourite bar on the Shore]. Anyways, I'll be off my computer this weekend. I shall speak to you on Monday. I'll be snapping away all weekend though ckayedesign if you feel for following along. x-C

Oh and don't forget new horoscopes are up. Click here to read yours. x -C

// LATELY

// From the studio

Wednesday at 12:33 pm, and these are my thoughts at the moment. Dan has been on call at the hospital all week, leaving poor wittle Candice all alone at the apartment. Which has looked like dinner alone, disney movies on repeat [last night I watched Marry Poppins and the new Cinderella movie], then around 9 pm I'll pour myself a glass of whiskey.. which we are recently out of so vodka soda orange juice it has been, FaceTime with Britt, then around 10:15-ish I'll shut down. Inbetween watching movies, drinking, and eating, I've had loads of time to doze off into my own head. Whenever I get down on myself aka think of all the possible reasons why I won't make it in this industry, therefore should just throw all my designs in the garbage, never try something new again in my life and just pretend like New York never happened, I'll give my head a little shake, or take a sip of my whiskey [whatever works] and read this quote. It was actually my computer desk top picture for a while. It's so true though! You always end up reaching your goals, just the way there is never the way you think it is. Trust the journey. Anyway, just my thoughts at the moment. x -C

// CKD SORT OF MORNING

// Studio life

Hay. So as I've mentioned in earlier posts, ckd will be making a couple changes in the new year. Well not so much changes - more so advancements. Advancements = fabric, and embroidery, and new packaging, and new new new new. Here's a little of my fun from this morning. Just me, myself, my dream world, coffee, and flowers :)

// A NIGHT AT BURLESQUE

// Location: Duane Park

A casual Saturday night in New York started with Burlesque and ended at Miss Korea at around 4:30 am. Yes, I walked in the door at around 5:15 am. It's been a hot New York minute since I've done that. I took the photo below in the bathroom of the venue. Loved the wallpaper. Sort of reminds me of the inspiration behind the ckd's newest mural going up in less than two weeks in the east village. We have decided to do a custom print for the ceiling as well! Ahh it's going to look sick! Cant wait to show you the finished product! Happy Monday guys x -C
