// SNOW

// Location: Rebecca Lake

One day all my weekends will look like this. Coffee overlooking the lake, music playing in the background, my kids running around in their pajamas, friends joining us for dinner later, I'll decorate the table with one-off samples from the ckd kitchen line. In meantime I'll be thankful for the one-off weekends I get. I love these people.

// BOLO

// Location: 128 Peter Street, Toronto

Those bums and boobies are sitting very nicely on those walls. BOLO is open and it's the raddest gym I have ever seen. This is just Caleigh's beginning to some major plans in the works. Thanks for bringing me on board your vision, congratulations!

// TWO YEARS AGO TODAY

// Location: Love The Design, Toronto

Two years ago today I collaborated with the prettiest store in Toronto, had an old friend work her magic and style Collection N Twelve around the store, another friend (whom I met through my Roots Canada collaboration) take photos, and filled the room with friends, family, and whatever designers wanted to come through for the launch of Collection N Twelve. Is it weird that this event feels like yesterday? Read more and see all photos from that night here

// BOLO INSTALL DAY, AND OTHER THINGS

// Location: Toronto

Planta is opening in Miami and is taking CKD with it. BOLO's bums and boobies are installed. I've upgraded to an iPhone 8 which has left my phone naked with a new gelaskins phone case coming in the mail. It's A Rose has been repainted white for a powder room going up in two weeks. Anthony has started to turn Collection N Thirty-Three 3D. And I'm pretty sure I've worn the same thing three days in a row. k bye.

// ON LOCATION

// Location: Future BOLO

I met Caleigh about five years ago. She was writing/producing for The Social and I think ET Canada, and I was shooting the event. The event was for stylist Jen Rade promoting Jergens newest natural glow. I remember thinking how cool Caleigh was, how cool her job was, how much I wanted her boots. I left for New York and came back to find her full on beast mode into her boxing. Today I dropped off custom wallpaper at BOLO [Body Love]. Her new boxing/fitness gym that is opening this Monday. Once again life brings us together, just this time doing completely different things. God works in remarkable ways. Congratulations Caleigh, stoked to be working together. Thanks for having CKD. Stay tuned for photos! x -C

// CKD FOR RUGS!

// From the studio

It's happening! CKD is diving right into rugs. I could not be more excited to start working with a new surface. My full-time job in nyc was working in the rug department creating custom rugs for Holland & Sherry. I applied to the job thinking, "rugs?". Now the dots have connected, and I am once again amazed at life. Here's a small/ very rough/ beginning stage/ look at what I'm thinking for the first design. I'm using the CKD signature blue rose, flowers from Collection N 33 and leaves from Collection N 25. CKD will be making her rugs with Weaver & Loom, a brilliant bespoke rug company producing only hand made quality. Ali is taking me under his wing and throughout the design process will be teaching me true rug making. The rug world is vast. This is the reason why I haven't experimented with rugs until now. I would have fallen into the trap of only dealing with agents rather than the mills themselves. You need to know what your using in order to create good work. It's sort of like buying a suit with terrible fabric. I could come up with the best pattern, but if the quality isn't there it's just a really bad suit. There are like 50 different wools, and 1000's of weaves. Ali is teaching me what weaves should be used according to the use. There are certain wools that should only be used in hotter climates, and yarns that I haven't even heard about. Ali's vision is to push the boundaries in the industry, and I don't know what I did to get so lucky to be taught by him. I'm excited for this new phase in CKD. Bring on the rugs!
